Earn credits for your EMI coursework and save on your education costs at UMGC.

If you have taken courses at FEMA's Emergency Management Institute (EMI), you may be able to transfer those credits toward a degree at University of Maryland Global Campus, a leader in online education. First, you will need to set up an account with the American Council on Education (ACE).

Related Benefits

Plus, if you're a Federal employee, or the spouse or legal dependent of an employee, you may also save up to 25 percent on out-of-state tuition for most UMGC programs.

If you're a military servicemember, you may qualify for additional benefits such as our reduced military tuition rate.

Tuition Discount Details

This discount will be applied to out-of-state tuition for eligible students in most programs.* This discount cannot be combined with certain scholarships or discount programs, including the Maryland Completion Scholarship, the Military New Graduate Student Savings Program, the Alumni Succeed Again Scholarship, and the discount for out-of-state community college alliances. Discounted tuition rates may not fall below the standard in-state rate or any special tuition rate offered to eligible activity-duty military servicemembers, their spouses, or dependents.

Earn UMGC Credit for EMI Courses

If you are a current or former student at the Emergency Management Institute, you can earn transfer credit for your coursework toward a bachelor's degree through the EMI–UMGC alliance. Submit your official EMI ACE transcripts to get started. We provide a comprehensive EMI–UMGC course equivalency map to help you estimate which courses will transfer and better plan your degree path. Some program requirements may also be met by other trainings.
